July 2, 2012, Slideshow By Mike Fak, The historic Pig Hip sign on Old Route 66 in Broadwell has been restored and placed back at the location it had been at for more than half a century. The famed eatery, owned by the late Ernie Edwards is gone, but thanks to the efforts of the Illinois Route 66 Association and members of the Logan County chapter, the sign marks the location for travelers. The original sign had been blown down by a storm and association members had restored, rebuilt and replaced damaged elements to recreate a sign as close to the original as possible with a much stronger support to prevent the sign from succumbing to high winds again.
