TV host to speak at Russel Allen Garden Day
February 28, 2013, LINCOLN – “Mid-American Gardener” host Dianne Noland will be the keynote speaker for the 2013 Russel Allen Garden Day. Her weekly show is filmed in Urbana by the local PBS television station, WILL-TV.
Garden Day, hosted by Logan County Master Gardeners, is dedicated to Russel Allen who was a charter member of the county’s Master Gardener program. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, in the Meyer-Evans Student Center on the Lincoln College Campus at 900 N. Ottawa St.
Additional sessions will include “Container Gardening” by Anne and Lee Niepagen, who own Niepagen greenhouses; “Herb Gardening,” by Karen Lowery; “Horticulture Happenings at the Illinois Executive Mansion,” by Harry Lewis, the mansion gardener; “Native Plants from Prairie to Pond,” by Denis Campbell, a faculty member at Lincoln College; “Cooking with Herbs,” by Bill Turney; and “Hummingbirds,” by Jan Sickbert.
Also offered will be a tour of the Lincoln College Center for Environmental Education.
Attendance is limited. The registration cost is $10 in advance or $12 at the door.
