REALTOR® President, Dana Hudson attends fall conference
October 11, 2013, Hudson, with Logan County Board of REALTORS in Logan County attended the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) Fall Conference and Expo at the Pheasant Run Resort, Oct.1-3, 2013, in St. Charles.
“The IAR Fall Conference is a great place to go to keep current on trends in Real Estate. It is also a great source for staying current with all of the different regulations required in the selling and buying of real estate.,” said Hudson.
With the theme of “The Power of R,” this year’s conference celebrated the power of the REALTOR® family, education, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and the RVOICE advocacy program.
Hundreds of Illinois REALTORS® learned more about mobile technology, tips for going paperless, the social business of real estate and what may be ahead for the housing market and economy in 2014. Featured presenters included real estate economist John Tuccillo, social media trainer John D. Reyes, National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Director of Digital Engagement Nobu Hata, iPad trainer Kim Hlava and technology enthusiast and CEO of the North Shore-Barrington Association of REALTORS® Steve Volkodav.
Conference attendees also had the opportunity to attend two continuing education classes.
REALTOR® and attorney Bruce Aydt provided an overview on fair housing and other issues in the course, “Fair Housing, Agency, License Law & Escrow 3.0.” Tax expert Chris Bird covered tax changes impacting the real estate industry in the course, “What’s Congress Up To? How Changing Federal Tax Laws Impact Your Clients and the Real Estate Professional.”
The Mission of the Logan County Board of REALTORS® is to provide services which will assist its members to be ethical and professional to each other and to the public.
A trade expo featured some of the real estate industry’s top vendors including marketing and insurance providers, banking and mortgage services and business technology companies.
The Conference also included an Inaugural Gala for the 2014 officers of the association. The officers are President Phil Chiles, ABR, CRS, GRI, SRES, broker-associate with The Real Estate Group in Springfield; President-Elect Jim Kinney, ABR, CRB, CRS, GRI, vice-president of luxury home sales for Baird & Warner in Chicago; and Treasurer Mike Drews, brokerassociate with Charles B. Doss & Co. in Oswego.
