Girl Scout Troop #6603 visits the Lincoln Animal Hospital
October 8, 2013, Story and slideshow By Jennifer Craig, Dr. Stephanie Deneke did an amazing job presenting the hospital to the Scouts. The Scouts saw x-rays of broken bones in animals, pregnant puppies, and objects animals had swallowed. She also showed them tapeworms, larva, fleas, etc. She walked the scouts around each exam room explaining different machines and reasons she uses the exam room.
She also showed us the pharmacy area and explained how some of the medicine is the same for animals and humans, but lots of medicines are different. The girls were able to hold a couple of kitties and pet a couple of dogs. The Scouts left the hospital even bigger animals lovers!
As a thank you, the girls braided dog toys at the meeting prior to our visit. Thanks to Dr. Deneke help, the Scouts (Daisies, Brownies and Juniors) earned a variety of animal badges.
