Lincoln Woman's Club begins annual 'Operation Santa'
September 20, 2013, Dear Friends, Lincoln Woman's Club is participating in "Operation Santa" again this year. You have responded to this worthwhile project to send special "Christmas Cheer" to our troops far from home, and we appreciate your help and generosity.
Items needed to fill the socks for the troops are listed below:
Food items (individual size): energy bars, Crystal Light drink packets, hot chocolate packets, beef jerky sticks (no pork), cup of soup, instant oatmeal, Tootsie Rolls, hard candy, breath mints, dried fruit mix, and cheese and crackers;
Toiletries, etc. (individual size): lip balm with sunscreen, baby wipes, shampoo/conditioner; toothpaste/toothbrushes/dental floss, disposable razors, Q-tips, and tissues (Puffs);
Personal items: black or white sweat socks, decks of cards, puzzle books, pens/pencils/small notebooks, travel-sized games, hand/boot warmers, eyeglass lens cleaners, dice/yo-yos/squirt guns, and Beanie Babies for troops to give children;
Money for postage would also be appreciated.
Members of the Lincoln Woman's Club will be working during our Activity Day, Monday, September 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please bring items to the Woman's Club Building, 230 N. McLean St., during this time.
Items will be sorted and taken to District 17 in Bloomington where Woman's Club volunteers will fill socks and transport them to Peoria where they will be mailed to the troops before Thanksgiving to ensure arrival for Christmas.
