Abe comes in 22 inch bronze
August 9, 2012, The Abraham Lincoln Statue Committee is pleased to announce a major addition to the fund raising program for this project. The ALSC has committed to produce a 22-inch bronze version of the statue to be placed on the Logan County Courthouse grounds. The first three of a limited edition of thirty small statues have been produced.
The State Bank of Lincoln has purchased one of those statues and delivery of the statue will take place on Monday, August 12, 2013. The public is invited to the office on the corner of Sangamon and Broadway at 10:00 a.m. to see the new statue added to the Lincoln collection that already exists at that location.
The full-size Abraham Lincoln statue, to be placed on courthouse lawn, will commemorate the speech made by Abraham Lincoln on October 16, 1858 on the courthouse lawn, during his run for the Senate. The speech took place on the Logan County Courthouse square and drew a crowd of 5,000. The town of Lincoln was just five years old and its population was swelled far beyond its permanent residents that day.
There will be a total of (30) numbered, autographed by the artist, bronze statue's made and the mold then broken. The statue has a cost of $2,000.00. To acquire a bronze statue and to reserve your number, a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is needed. The balance of $1,500 is due at the time of delivery, which should be from four to six weeks once the order has been placed.
